Dustin Pittman:
New York After Dark

A visual chronicle of New York at its most electric, New York After Dark brings together photographer Dustin Pittman’s extraordinary archive of the city’s cultural underground. From Andy Warhol’s Factory and Studio 54 to CBGB, fashion, punk, disco and activism, Pittman was not simply documenting the scene, he was part of it.

Published by Rizzoli, the 272-page monograph draws from an archive of more than 100,000 photographs, many previously unpublished, capturing spontaneous and unguarded moments with some of the most influential figures in art, fashion, music and culture.

The book was featured in Vogue, W Magazine, People, Town & Country and other international press.

New York Through Pittman’s Eyes

Pittman’s photographs are raw, intimate and unapologetic, capturing New York from inside the scene rather than looking in. The design takes on that same attitude: bold, immediate and slightly subversive.

Against the black-and-white photography, an electric yellow becomes a deliberate interruption, while assertive typography, unexpected scale and pacing bring a sense of energy and friction to the page. The result is a book that doesn’t simply document the era, but reflects some of its intensity and irreverence.
